How many are listening to your praise – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Acts 16:25 – “…And about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them…”
Introduction to Acts 16:25
It was almost midnight, no one slept in that jail. While everything seemed difficult, Paul and Silas sang of their victory, they weren’t resting, they were announcing the great blessing, what was against them: false accusations, torn dresses, unfair trial, floggings and strokes, undignified treatment.
Development
How many obstacles there are to expressing praise and prayer, aren’t there? Perhaps many people today also remember the adversities they have faced; they are obstacles to our faith in a life of prayer and praise to the Lord…
It’s important to note: they were there with the consent of God, who had sent them through a spiritual gift. The fact is that nothing and no one can stop us from praying and praising. What’s more, it was close to midnight, a prophetic moment.
If the lives of those two brave men were based on reason, they would have had enough argument to convince almost everyone that it was unnecessary to pray and sing at that moment.
“You don’t know what I’m going through, buddy!” these brothers would say. But it wasn’t like that: the other prisoners listened to them, according to the verse they read.
Sometimes I think:
If I were there, what would the prisoners hear from me?
Anger, hurt, hatred of those people and the unjust magistrates?
A desire to take the law into your own hands?
Bad words?
What would the prisoners hear from me?
What are those around me hearing from me today?
Beloved, it’s almost midnight! Maranatha! Jesus is coming! The pain of the whip will pass! Injustice will not exist in heaven! There we will have eternal rest, joy and peace! It’s worth persevering in prayer! To him be all honor, glory and praise.
No one slept that day, but no one was trapped either. An earthquake suddenly shook everything. The rapture will also be a shaking for many, but for the church it will be the announcement of salvation.
Conclusion of Acts 16:25
The chains of this earth will open and we will enter heaven. The body of welts will give way to an incorruptible body in glory. Tonight, praise will shake this place.
