Jesus, the master of life – Preaching

Preaching Outline on 1 John 2:25 – “And this is the promise he made to us: eternal life.”

Introduction to 1 John 2:25

The First Epistle of John is a profound spiritual guide for Christians of all ages. Written by one of Jesus’ closest disciples, this book seeks to strengthen the faith of God’s servants and offer security in the midst of life’s turbulence.

In 1 John 2:25, the apostle John, with the authority of one who has witnessed the life and work of Christ, presents us with one of the most consoling truths of the Christian faith: “And this is the promise that he made to us: eternal life.” This statement, simple in its structure, carries immense theological weight and offers a balm for our restless souls.

The things we need most are those that only God can give us, reveal to us. Our soul is eternal and has an emptiness the size of God, which will cease to exist when we meet Jesus, the fullness of Life, Hope and Love.

Development

Only He can hear our prayer. That’s why we transmit life when we pray, exercising the priesthood of the believer, because the Author of Life, the ONLY One who died and rose again, is assisting us and is at the right hand of God, OUR ONLY MEDIATOR, giving us a guarantee for Eternity.

Everything starts to make sense in our lives when we meet the Author of Life!

Only he can forgive our sins. And only he can give us eternal life, only Jesus, who was offered on behalf of our lives.

We see the prophetic differences that are unique to the Lord Jesus

First of all: Jesus is the only One who died and rose again.
Romans 8:34: “Who will condemn them? For it is Christ who died and was raised from the dead, and is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

Romans 14:9 “For this cause Christ died and rose again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and the living.”

All the characters in the Bible who typified the Lord Jesus, they died.

Moses, David, Abraham, Melchizedek, Joseph. None of them was resurrected to give Eternal Life to the world. Only the Lord Jesus died and rose again and has this authority to give Eternal Life.

Secondly: Jesus was the only One who shed his Blood. And by shedding his Blood, he cleanses from sin anyone who believes in him.

Mark 14:24: “And he said to them, ‘This is my Blood, the Blood of the New Testament, which is shed for you.

All the other characters in the Bible, even if they had shed their own blood, would not represent Eternal Life. And Jesus brought it from eternity and poured out his Spirit on his Church.

Jesus was the One who established ONE BODY, through His Blood, which is the Faithful Church.

John 6:53 – “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you have no life in you.”

When he says, “eat the flesh”, he means the BODY.
When HE talks about drinking THE BLOOD, it’s in the sense of the cup, the Life of the Lord Jesus.

I Corinthians 11:26 – “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord Jesus until he comes.”

The Church, as the Body of Christ, was established by the Lord Jesus through the shedding of his blood on the cross of Calvary, which was the Life that the Lord Jesus was offering to his Church.
He gave us this life by sending his Holy Spirit.
Therefore, the Church, which is the Body of Christ, lives with the life she received through the Blood of Jesus and through this Blood, we move, we witness, we walk, we share, all within a Glorious Project of Eternity and not of this world.

The Church has LIFE through the Holy Spirit at work within it.

When we are eating, living for Jesus, He hears us; Jesus was also the ONLY one who made a covenant of ETERNAL LIFE.

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I John 2:25 – “And this is the promise he gave us: eternal life.”

I Timothy 6:16 – “He alone has immortality and dwells in the light which no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and glory and power forevermore, Amen!”

With regard to the characters who prefigure the Lord Jesus as mediators in the Old Testament, we can say that Jesus has the characteristic of Eternity, Immortality and dwells in the Light.
This didn’t happen with Isaac, nor with David, nor with Abraham, Moses, nor with Melchizedek, nor with Joseph, nor like Joseph, nor with so many others mentioned in the Old Testament.

Conclusion

Today, we learn about many servants whose names were recorded in the Word, with prophetic qualities of the Lord Jesus, but only He was perfect, complete, died and rose again.

One day, Mary was weeping hopelessly at the door of the tomb, until she met the MASTER OF LIFE.

Mary was looking for the Living One among the dead, she was looking for the teaching of life that had once warmed her heart – but the truth is: THE MASTER OF LIFE is not among the dead. He could not be held back by Death.

And today, we have come to meet him.

– The MASTER is ALIVE and because he lives we can believe in tomorrow – JESUS revealed his will to Mary and has revealed his plan for us to each one of us.
His teaching of LIFE remains in our hearts. The teaching of Salvation will never die.

Only the Lord Jesus brought us immortality, God’s Eternity to us.
