THE WISDOM OF JOQUEBEDE - Preaching Preaching Outline on Exodus 1:15-17- And the king of Egypt spoke to the midwives of the Hebrew women (the name of one of whom was Siphrah, and the name of the other Puah) and said, "When you help the Hebrew women give birth and see them on the seats, if it is a son, kill him; but if it is a daughter, then live. Introduction to Exodus 1:15-17 When we look at the situation of the people of Israel in Egypt and everything they experienced under the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, we realize that everything points prophetically to what the Church is also experiencing in this world. Pharaoh issued two death decrees for the Hebrew children. His aim was to prevent the people from growing up and becoming stronger. However, many Hebrew mothers were alive and saved their children in time (Ex 1:19). Their attitude has a lot to teach us, especially the attitude of Jochebed, Moses' mother. We see the same thing happening today. The adversary has sought in every way to destroy the lives of our children as early as possible, so we need to be alive, that is, to be attentive and vigilant with everything that surrounds our children, so that the adversary's decrees of spiritual death do not reach them. Development 1st Decree "And the king of Egypt spoke to the midwives of the Hebrew women (the name of one of whom was Siphrah, and the name of the other Puah). And he said, 'When you help the Hebrew women to give birth, and see them on the seats, if it is a son, then kill him; but if it is a daughter, then live." - Exodus 1: 15, 16 Pharaoh's aim was to prevent the people of Israel from multiplying. With the death of the boys, when the girls grew up they would have no Hebrew men to marry, and would inevitably marry Egyptians, diluting the Hebrew race in a short time, generation after generation. The enemy has sought to destroy the lives of our children before they grow up, while they are still at home. How can this be done? Through television programs, by handing them over to unbelievers (babysitters) to be looked after by them, by living with relatives who don't know the Lord, etc. The Lord once revealed: "My handmaids ask me for children, and after I give them to them, they hand them over to sorceresses to take care of them". Many mothers today go out to work and leave their children to the "electronic babysitter" that is the television, not caring what they are watching. Others leave their children to unknown babysitters who don't serve the Lord, and later realize that their children are spiritually dead. Living mothers are those who take care of all this, preventing their children from watching destructive programs and who are always talking to them about the Word. 2nd Decree "Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying: All the sons that are born you shall cast into the river (Nile), but all the daughters you shall keep alive." - Exodus 1: 22. This decree aimed to destroy, by drowning in the River Nile, any boys who escaped the first decree. It didn't matter what age they were, they all had to be eliminated if the aim of the previous decree was to be achieved. Today's world is yesterday's River Nile. We raise our children with the utmost zeal, teaching them the Word every day and setting an example of faith with our own lives, but one day we have to send them to schools and other places where they need to go. And this is when the enemy's 2nd Decree finds a favorable environment, the world, to be fulfilled. We can't keep our children at home or close to us all their lives. So what should we do so that they don't drown in this world? This is where we should pay attention to the attitude of Jochebed, when she could no longer hide her son Moses, but had to throw him into the River Nile. Conclusion of Exodus 1:15-176 "And a man of the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi. And the woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months. And when she could hide him no longer, she took an ark of bulrushes, and put bitumen and pitch in it; and when she had put the child in it, she put it in the bulrushes by the river." - Exodus 2: 1-3 Jochebed acted wisely and took care of her son Moses with all diligence. At first she hid him from the eyes of his enemies, and so preserved him in the first moments of his life. Then, when she could do so no longer, she took an ark of bulrushes and put bitumen and pitch in it, and put the child in the bulrushes by the river. Moses was preserved in the most difficult moments, and this happened because his mother was zealous in caring for her son's life. She was not neglectful of the child the Lord had given her to care for, and her action had two important moments. First, she hid him so that Pharaoh's death decree wouldn't hit him. To hide is to deliver from evil, to not expose to the dangers that are around. Handmaids who are alive must hide their children from everything that poses a danger to their spiritual lives. Then, when he could no longer protect him himself, he took an ark of reeds and put bitumen and pitch inside and out to keep it from sinking into the River Nile. While the child is small, we have him in front of our eyes, and caring for him is easier. But the time comes to send the child off to school and other activities far from home, where they will have contact with ungodly classmates, with teachers who do not fear the Lord, and it is at this time that careful mothers putty the chests that carry their children, inside and out, with fasting and intercession. This is necessary at all times, so that your children don't drown and perish forever in the murky, dirty waters of this world.
