The Virtuous Woman – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Proverbs 31:10-21 – “Who will find a virtuous woman? Her worth far exceeds that of rubies. Her husband’s heart is set on her, and she shall lack no treasure…”
Introduction
The Lord wanted this text to be the reason for a word to the sisters. But I would like to draw your attention to verse 10: “Who will find a virtuous woman?” . So, a virtuous woman is a woman full of virtues.
Do you remember when the Lord spoke about Mary? What did the angel say to her? “And the power of the Most High shall overshadow you” (Luke 1:35). Mary was a virtuous woman. Who is a virtuous woman? The one who has the Holy Spirit. Where is she? Who will find her? Because she’s not common.
It’s like ruby. You don’t find it easily. Because ruby is a rare, precious stone; you can’t find it anywhere, you can’t find ruby on the newsstand or in any jewelry store. Only in special jewelry stores, because the ruby will make up a precious jewel.
VIRTUOUS WOMAN
It is the one that has the Holy Spirit and is led by it. The church has the Holy Spirit. If you have the Holy Spirit and pay attention to his guidance, you are a virtuous woman. You are virtuous, not because of human qualities, but because the virtue of the Most High has enveloped you.
WHO WILL FIND IT?
If we make a comparison and say that this woman is a type of the church, the woman is more virtuous the more characteristics she has of the faithful church. And the faithful church has characteristics such as: a life of obedience and holiness. The more obedience and holiness, the more she is identified with the faithful church. There are many religions, but where is the Holy Spirit at work? There are many women, but the virtuous one is the one whose heart is dominated by the Holy Spirit.
THEIR VALUE EXCEEDS THAT OF RUBIES
Another stone could have been mentioned here, but it’s the ruby, because of its value and beauty.
HER HUSBAND’S HEART IS ENTRUSTED TO HER, AND SHE WILL NOT LACK ANY FARM.
Her husband trusts her because she has characteristics of obedience, faithfulness and dependence on the Lord. And the Lord has shown that when she puts herself in exactly this position, she becomes a pillar of the house, and as a pillar, she supports the home with her intercessions, cries and fasts. And through these resources of grace come great deliverances. We’re not saying that she is the head – it’s her husband’s government – but she is a pillar, a support, in the spiritual sense.
This woman is not ordinary. She’s like ruby. Her husband can trust her. She intercedes for her husband, for her children, and nothing is lacking in that home. A woman who has the Holy Spirit does good for her children, does not expose her husband, but intercedes for the Holy Spirit to work in his life. This is the virtuous woman.
SEARCH FOR WOOL AND LINEN
Wool symbolizes the warmth of the Spirit; linen, holiness. She is a helper in the ministry of her church and in the home she guides her children with wisdom.
IS LIKE A MERCHANT SHIP, BRINGING ITS BREAD FROM AFAR
From afar, because this bread – the living bread that came down from heaven – comes from eternity. The home of a virtuous woman is happy. Her husband and children are happy because she seeks to do God’s will, which nourishes faith and sustains spiritual life. Through the Spirit, she seeks from eternity this bread that feeds her family.
STILL UP AT NIGHT
We are living through the night. Difficulties in homes, in marriages. And at this time of night, the servants will have to support their homes with guidance and wise counsel. She generates salvation for her husband, for her children. She is a blessing in the church.
EXAMINES AN ESTATE AND BUYS IT
Plant a vineyard, because the fruit of the vine produces wine, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit. Plant a vineyard with the fruit of your hands. It is being used in your home. He is preparing the church there, something that will remain. It is the seed sown.
The fruit he will produce is grapes, and from grapes wine, and he will have joy and deliverance. The strength of your shoulders, of your arms, is the work you do. It’s exactly this: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
HE OPENS HIS HAND TO THE AFFLICTED, TO THE NEEDY HE STRETCHES OUT HIS HAND
I’m talking about servants, spiritual women. There are times of such great need that the servant says: “I can’t take it”, but through intercession, through crying out, the Lord will strengthen and sustain her.
WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE OF THE SNOW
Why aren’t you afraid? Because his whole house is lined with folded laundry. Folded clothes speak of communion. Snow, which speaks of spiritual coldness, she doesn’t fear. In communion, fasting and prayer, spiritual coldness does not exist. Everything is cold outside, but not inside. There is the warmth of the Spirit. God is at work, blessing her, and she is part of it.
