Go, eat your bread with joy – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Ecclesiastes 9:7-9 – Go therefore, eat your bread with gladness, and drink your wine with a good heart; for God is well pleased with your works. Let your garments be white at all times, and let there never be a lack of oil on your head. Enjoy life with the woman you love, all the days of your life of vanity; which God has given you under the sun, all the days of your vanity; for this is your portion in this life and of your work which you have done under the sun.

Go, eat your bread with joy

This is a fundamentally important guideline for anyone who longs for eternal life. The Bread of Life is the Lord Jesus, and in order to have true joy in our hearts, we need to feed on him every day, and for that we need to always go into his presence, that is, maintain a life of constant communion with him. The Word says: “Whoever comes to me, I will by no means cast out.

Drink your wine with a good heart

Another fundamental guideline is to seek a life in the Spirit. Drinking the wine means enjoying the blessings that the Holy Spirit gives us, such as the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts and all kinds of experiences with Him. To have a good heart is to have a heart full of the Father’s presence. When the Father dwells in our hearts, the blessings of the Spirit are abundant.

For God is pleased with your works

The works that please the Father are those carried out by the Holy Spirit in our lives, and this is only possible if the two previous guidelines are obeyed. When the servant walks in revelation, the Father rejoices in his works.

Let your garments be white all your days, and let there never be a lack of oil on your head

The Lord’s purpose in guiding us in these things is so that our testimony to the world is alive. For this to happen, our garments must always be white – a life of sanctification – and the anointing oil of the Holy Spirit on our heads. The head speaks of the government of our lives, and we need to be governed by the Holy Spirit. By living in his direction, our garments will always be clean.

Enjoy life with the woman you love

The woman reminds us of the church, the bride of the Lord. We need to make life in the Body of Jesus our pleasure and our joy. When we are living in the Body – in the Church – actively participating in its functions, we can enjoy the true joy of being able to praise the Lord, of receiving the benefits of the Blood of Jesus circulating in its midst, and so many other benefits that gladden our hearts.

Because this is your portion in this life

Our lives only have real meaning when they are lived in a way that is guided by the Lord. People seek many things in this life, but the best portion is what the Lord offers us. Everything man does in this life is nothing but vanity and illusion; everything he does is for the purpose of attracting the attention of others, and in this way his life loses its meaning.

But the Word says that our portion in this life is the blessing of the Trinity: the Bread (Jesus), the Wine (the Holy Spirit) and the Works of God (the Father), all of which have to be lived out in the Body (the Church). That’s how our life finds its purpose.
