Preaching Outline on Ecclesiastes 10:10 – If the iron is dull, and the cutting is not sharp, then one should redouble one’s strength; but wisdom is excellent for directing.
A person who is unprepared because he has a blind axe will have to work harder than a wise person whose tools are in order.
Like exercise sharpens the body, a relationship with God sharpens the spirit! The Bible sharpens our perception of situations, prayer makes us a very sharp two-edged sword. Man has distanced himself from God, he’s left without communion, without direction from the Spirit, making great efforts to survive in the world.
Preaching without the guidance of the Holy Spirit means using force and reason. The sting of the blind axe strikes the wood without achieving the goal of cutting it. It brings great wear and tear to the man who becomes tired.
Every day, at the beginning of each journey, the axe has to be sharpened with prayer, fasting, etc. The praise has to be in tune, the message has to be in accordance with the Word. Man’s strength is small, the Lord is my strength. The sharp acted more easily. Forced spiritual gifts do great harm.
Our lives have to be in tune with the revelations of the Holy Spirit so that God prevails and not man. “From whom the whole body, fitly joined together and knit together by the help of every joint, according to the right working of every part, works the increase of the body for the edifying of itself in love”. (Ephesians 4: 16)
