God's Faithfulness Preaching Outline on Titus 1:2 - "In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of ages." Introduction to Titus 1:2 How many promises do we hear on a daily basis? Promises of love, promises of friendship, promises of work... But let's be honest, many of them end up not being kept, right? How many times has someone said something to you and then disappeared? Or made a promise that was just words? It's frustrating, isn't it? But today I want to talk about Someone whose promises never fail: God. He is unlike any person or thing in this world. In Titus 1:2, Paul reminds us that God "cannot lie". That's right: God is faithful, and his word can be trusted. He has promised incredible things for us, such as eternal life, and we can be sure that He will deliver. So, the theme of our reflection today is: "God's faithfulness". Let's explore together why we can trust him completely, even when circumstances seem difficult. DEVELOPMENT 1. GOD CANNOT LIE When the Bible says that God "cannot lie", it means that he is absolutely true. It's not just that he chooses to be faithful; it's that he is faithful in essence. There is no falsehood in him. Imagine a human relationship: if someone lies to you, what happens? Trust begins to crumble. Now think of God: He never lies, never deceives and never fails. When God promised the people of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:8), it took time, but He delivered. When He said He would send the Messiah, Jesus came into the world. God always does what he says he's going to do. What has God already promised you? Maybe it's peace, provision, healing or salvation. Know that He will fulfill it, because He is faithful! 2. A PROMISE BEFORE ETERNAL TIMES Another impressive detail of this verse is that Paul says that God promised eternal life "before the ages of ages". This means that long before you were born, long before the world existed, God already had a plan for you. Why does this matter? Because it shows that God is not improvising. He didn't look at your life and think, "Hmm, maybe I can help this person." No! No! He already knew you and had already prepared a glorious future for you. Imagine you're walking along a dark path full of stones. You stumble, fall and sometimes don't even know where to go. But up ahead, far away, there's a light shining. That light is God, who has already planned everything and is guiding you to it. Even if you're facing difficulties today, remember: God has already promised the best for you. Trust in Him and keep going. 3. THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE Now, let's talk about the heart of this promise: eternal life. This isn't just about going to heaven after we die. It's about living with purpose here and now, knowing that we belong to God and that our ultimate destiny is to be with Him forever. What is eternal life? Jesus explained it in John 17:3: "And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." Understanding who God is and living in communion with Him is the beginning of eternal life. How does this impact our lives today? When we know that we have the promise of eternal life, we begin to live more lightly. The problems of this life lose their weight, because we know that they are temporary. Today, decide to trust God for the future. Stop trying to control everything and hand your worries over to Him. He has already promised to take care of you! Conclusion of Titus 1:2 I want to end with a simple question: Do you trust God? Do you really? I'm not talking about a superficial trust, but a deep trust that withstands the storms of life. God is faithful. He cannot lie. He has already promised the best for you before you even existed. So don't give up! No matter what you're facing today - financial problems, emotional crises, illness, doubts - God is in control. If you haven't given your life to God yet, do it now. Tell Him: "Lord, I recognize that I am weak, but I know that You are faithful. I want to trust in your promises and live for you." God has a beautiful plan for you, and he will fulfill every promise he has made. Believe it, because He is faithful. Amen.
